The 8051

These notes will not tell you absolutely everything about the 8051 microcontroller. However, we hope they will provide you with a good introduction to this very popular controller. They should help you to start writing simple assembly language programs that you can test on the EdSim51 Simulator.

8051 textbook written by EdSim51's developer, James Rogers, will soon be available from Amazon.

The book is based on the following set of online notes, by the same author. However, it greatly expands upon them, with more examples, including C examples not available here. With screenshots of the EdSim51 simulator in action, explanations are easier to follow.

The book is due for publication towards the end of April, 2009.
